Ku Bar

Live music is alive and well at Ku Bar in Stockton-on-Tees. Orphan Boy supported The Enemy there last Sunday night and it reminded me of how great the hardest profession in the world can be.

A great venue run by  hard working friendly staff, Jimmy Jukebox, Simon and many others looked after us from start to finish. Typified when Chris Orphan's drum peddle broke two songs in and Jimmy quickly ran on The Enemy tour bus and shouted 'WE'VE GOT A SITUATIONNNN!' The Enemy lads jaws dropped given the events of Paris on Friday night, Jimmy quickly shouted out 'THE ORPHANS PEDAL's BUST.' Huge sighs of relief and a peddle were quickly emitted by the Enemy. A great bit of work by Jimmy and many thanks Liam✊🏻

So, the night was sold out, approx 40% of the crowd got in two hours before the 10pm headline set to watch and welcome the v impressive Flesh open proceedings. Approx 80% were in for the Orphan 9pm blinding & v well received set. Lots of Stockton pro Orphan love and signing going on all night after at the Orphan Boy merch spot. Support slot heaven basically as opposed to the hell of the empty room when the crowd have only eyes and ears for the headliner or possibly worse still is the 'support band are the enemy' scenario.

A blinding Enemy slot capped the night, approx a 1.5 hour set, biiiiggg sound for the v strong set and arms aloft pretty much start to finish.

Another highlight of the night was being educated in the edible art that is the North East invention 'The Parmo.'

All followed by packing up and driving 2 hours back to Mcr with big smiles on mine and Rick Concrete's faces.

Long live Rock & Roll...... and fast food diversity.

John Kennedy - Last XFM Show

Was emotional listening to John's last Xposure show last night. He closed with the first two songs he started his XFM journey with. Dub Syndicate 'No Dog Barks' and lastly Chumbawamba's  'I Never Gave Up.'

Thank and praise the Lord though because John & Xposure remain intact when Radio X takes to the airwaves on 21st September✊🏻

Chumbawamba - I Never Gave Up

[Chorus]

And if you survive me

I Never gave up

Tell them this

I Never gave up

And if you survive me

I Never gave up

Tell them this

Almost as if I were planning ahead

I drank, I ate, I made love

I learnt to snatch whatever I could

I never asked for pity and I never gave up

[Repeat chorus]

Twenty months I kept accounts

And in the end they'll balance out

Sometimes I vomit happy memoriesSometimes I laugh out loud just to crack my face

[Repeat chorus]

And if I meet Hitler in the other place

I'll spit this precious soup in his face

And all my accounts will be settled, you see'

Cause Hitler never ever got the better of me

[Repeat chorus]

I never gave up, I never gave up

I crawled in the mud but I never gave up

[Repeat]
